How Big of a Shed Do You Really Need?

One of the most common questions we hear is:
“What size shed should I get?”

The honest answer?
Most people underestimate how much space they need.

Start With What You’ll Store

List your largest items first:

  • Lawn mower or riding mower

  • ATVs or bikes

  • Shelving or workbenches

  • Seasonal décor or supplies

Then add walking space. A shed that’s packed wall-to-wall becomes frustrating fast.

Common Size Guidelines

  • 8×10 or 8×12: Basic lawn equipment and tools

  • 10×12 or 10×16: Mowers, shelving, seasonal storage

  • 12×20+: Workshops, equipment, multi-use spaces

If you plan to use the shed for more than storage, size up.

Visualize Before You Buy

This is where many buyers gain confidence. Using a 3D builder or walking through a display shed helps you understand:

  • Ceiling height

  • Door placement

  • Storage layout

It’s much easier to decide when you can see it.
